Honda FCX Sedan

When Honda first unveiled its FCX Clarity concept at the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show, it represented a huge leap forward in fuel-cell technology -- a spacious sedan with 136 horsepower and a 280-mile range, the car's revolutionary powertrain allowing it to emit nothing more than water vapor. Even more impressive was Honda's plan to put the FCX into production, though in limited numbers and available only to select customers chosen by the automaker. Now three years later the first five lucky drivers have been chosen, and this glimpse of the automotive future is starting to roll off the assembly line. The 2008 Honda FCX Fuel-Cell vehicle is capable of achieving 68 mpg combined city and highway driving. Currently hydrogen with the same amount of energy as gasoline costs between $3-$6. Fuel-Cell vehicles are more efficient than gasoline vehicles so the cost per mile is a lot less. The FCX is capable of reaching speeds up to 100 miles per hour and in initial tests the vehicles easily reached 75 mph.
