Honda Accord

waiting for the actual concept car of the 2008 Accord Coupe since seeing the drawing awhile back. The good thing is that Honda kept the rear end of the car very similar to the drawing – and it looks absolutely fantastic. The quad exhaust will probably turn into dual exhaust for the production model, which is fine. But the rear of the car is daring enough without being offensive, that I really like it.

The problem, though, is not the rear of the car. It’s the fact that that the side profile and front of the car look exactly like a Hyundai Tiburon, which I don’t like. See, Hyundai is supposed to be copying Honda, not the other way around. I like the basic look of the current Accord front end. If Honda can combine that ( spice it up a little, of course ) with the concept rear end, they’ll have a huge hit, and I’ll buy one. If they keep the Tiburon look, this Accord will bring new meaning to the word suckage.

Autobytel’s thoughts on the 2008 Honda Accord Coupe Concept – ‘We are surprised Honda’s design so closely follows that of the Hyundai Tiburon, but it holds enough of its own lines and style to keep everyone happy, including current and new potential customers. We wish an interior had also been revealed but don’t doubt whatever Honda brings to the table will be up to Accord standards.’ It seems they see the same thing I do – a Tiburon will a nice rear. Karl on Cars had this to say about the 2008 Accord Coupe concept – ‘I do like the design, however, as the current Accord always looked a little flabby to me. More power and better mileage is another promise that buyers will appreciate.’ More power and mileage is good, very good. Well, at least the mileage part. The current Accord isn’t hurting for real-world power or performance. It does fall behind on paper, but there’s plenty of go-juice when you’re out on the road, whether you’re in the I4 or V6.
